Germany has officially confirmed that it will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, with broadcaster SWR continuing to oversee the country's Eurovision project. The announcement ensures that Germany will remain among the nations competing in next year's contest.
Following its first year leading Germany’s Eurovision efforts, SWR has expressed confidence in its current direction and plans to build upon the foundations established for the 2026 season. The broadcaster has already indicated that a national selection format will once again be used to choose Germany’s representative for Eurovision 2027.
German Head of Delegation Tina Sikorski has previously stated that the broadcaster is eager to further develop the selection process, attract a broader range of artists, and encourage greater musical diversity. The goal is to create a stronger platform for both established performers and emerging talent while improving Germany’s results at the contest.
While detailed information regarding the 2027 selection has not yet been released, preparations are expected to begin in the coming months. Fans can anticipate further announcements concerning the format, submission process, and timetable later this year.
Germany is one of Eurovision’s founding participants, having debuted in the inaugural contest in 1956. The country has won the competition twice, most notably with Nicole’s “Ein bißchen Frieden” in 1982 and Lena’s “Satellite” in 2010. Germany has also maintained one of the longest participation records in Eurovision history.
With participation now confirmed, attention turns to who will have the opportunity to represent Germany on the Eurovision stage in 2027.
