Norway Opens Search for Eurovision 2027 Entry as MGP Submissions Begin:

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has officially opened the submission process for Melodi Grand Prix 2027, marking the start of Norway's journey towards the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Songwriters, producers and performers interested in representing the Scandinavian nation are now invited to submit their entries for consideration. The submission window will remain open until 31 August 2026, giving artists just over two months to enter the competition.

Melodi Grand Prix has served as Norway's Eurovision selection for decades and remains one of the country's most popular music events. Through the competition, NRK hopes to discover a song capable of competing for Eurovision success while showcasing the diversity and creativity of the Norwegian music scene.

According to the current rules, songs submitted for MGP 2027 must be original compositions and cannot exceed three minutes in length. Entries are also required to include at least one Norwegian songwriter, while artists must meet the age requirements set out by the broadcaster. Songwriters and producers may submit up to three entries for consideration.

NRK has once again stressed its ambition to find music that stands out on the Eurovision stage. In recent years, the broadcaster has focused on identifying songs with strong international appeal while maintaining a distinct Norwegian identity. The broadcaster is expected to review all submissions during the autumn before selecting the artists and songs that will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2027.

Norway remains one of Eurovision's most successful and recognizable nations, having won the contest three times with Bobbysocks! in 1985, Secret Garden in 1995, and Alexander Rybak's record-breaking victory in 2009. As preparations for Eurovision 2027 begin, hopeful artists now have the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and earn a place on the MGP stage.
