Denmark’s search for its Eurovision 2027 entry has officially begun, as DR has opened the submission window for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2027.

Artists, songwriters and composers now have the chance to submit their songs for consideration, with the deadline set for 25 October at midnight. From the submitted entries, eight songs will be selected to compete in Denmark’s national final.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix remains one of Denmark’s most important music events, deciding who will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. For 2027, the show will take place on 13 February at the Sydbank Arena in Kolding, a city in southern Denmark.

There are several rules for taking part in the selection. Submissions must include both an audio file and a video of the artist performing the song. At least one of the main people behind the entry — the singer, composer or lyricist — must either be Danish or have a strong connection to Denmark. This can include living in Denmark, being in a relationship with a Dane, or being from Greenland or the Faroe Islands.

Songs must also follow Eurovision rules and should not have been publicly released, performed or sold without DR being informed. Songwriters are allowed to submit more than one song, and entries can be performed in any language during Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. However, DR will later decide the language used at Eurovision.

All singers must be at least 18 years old by the end of May 2027.

Denmark will be hoping to continue its recent momentum after Søren Torpegaard Lund represented the country at Eurovision 2026 with “Før vi går hjem”. He finished in 7th place with 243 points, giving Denmark its best Eurovision result since Emmelie de Forest won the contest in 2013 with “Only Teardrops”.

With submissions now open, the road to Eurovision 2027 has officially started for Denmark — and fans will be watching closely to see which eight songs make it to the national final.
